Problem Addressed

The state-of-the-art micro-CPV technologies miniaturize conventional CPV approaches, resulting in a mismatch between the conventional fabrications approach to micro-cells. The advance micro-optical techniques do not allow low-cost fabrication and integration at the micro-scale. Significant improvement on CPV architectures and techniques are still needed in order to compete with conventional flat panel silicon PVs.


This technology integrates wafer-level optical concentrating element with solar cells in order to enhance both conversion efficiency and reduce cost simultaneously. The technology uses mature semiconductor processing technology and integration techniques tolerant to misalignment to further achieve cost reduction.
